Spotted at Kate Spade in Broadway Plaza, Walnut Creek.

You may recognize the Alicia Klein brand from the popup kiosk that opened in December in the Liberty Bell Plaza in downtown Walnut Creek featuring Alicia Klein signature Taxi Wallets and other handbags. Well, it turns out that Alicia Klein is a Walnut Creek resident and has a showroom in downtown Lafayette near the back of La Fiesta Square.
From the Alicia Klein Facebook page:
With the motto “Making the Case for the Working Woman,” Alicia officially launched her signature collection in 2003. Originally designed with the female executive in mind, the collection has grown to appeal to business people of all ages and career levels.
But it’s not all business — there’s whimsy, too! Fans of the iconic Nancy Drew Mystery Stories® are thrilled with our fine Imagery leather accessories celebrating the famous girl sleuth. And most of Alicia’s accessories are available in an array of rich, juicy colors and patterns that brighten your day while organizing your stuff.
Check out the showroom inside:

The Alicia Klein showroom is located at 3541 Wilkinson Lane in downtown Lafayette in the back of La Fiesta Square.

The women’s clothing store Arden B. is closing January 29th in Broadway Plaza, Walnut Creek. Currently the entire store is 40% off so drop by to get in on some of the deals before they close for good.

Well, that was fast. The Danville Chocolates and Alicia Klein Liberty Bell Kiosks have already closed. According to the kiosk’s website, the new tenants are:

I was looking forward to trying some Danville Chocolates but whenever I went they were closed, generally due to the rainy weather. Oh well, it’ll have to be Cafe Leonidas for now.

Citibank is relocating from their Mt. Diablo location near Pizza Antica to another Mt. Diablo Blvd. location next to the restaurant Metro as well as near the Whole Foods parking lot. Based on a peek inside it looks like they are almost finished.

Back in November when I noted that the baby goods store The Right Start was closing I mentioned that Paper Source would possibly be opening up in April in this location and it’s looking more and more like this is going to happen. Paper Source is definitely opening a store in Walnut Creek in April based on their Jobs page here. Doing a search for zip code 9496 shows they are looking for an Assistant Store Manager, Shift Supervisor and Store Manager.
I had mentioned in September that Sunrise Bistro might be expanding next door where the frame store Art Form used to be, but it turns out that this space is being combined with the now vacant spot to the right, giving whoever moves in plenty of floorspace. Take a look at the inside below:

I would have thought Paper Source would be better off in Broadway Plaza or closer to downtown on the other side, but this location on the periphery makes sense since they needed more space, and jives with their Berkeley location on 4th Street which is also at the end of the 4th Street shopping area. Coincidence? We’ll see…

Back last February I noted that the wax salon Stript Wax Bar opened with Lashfully in downtown Walnut Creek but now Lashuflly has the place to themselves as Stript moved to Lafayette across from Artisan Bistro at 1040 Brown Street in a comfy homelike building.

Despite the “We’re Moving” sign in the window, Wags & Whiskers Pet Boutique will be closing by end of January. Located on Locust St. in downtown Walnut Creek this is disappointing news for cat and dog fans.

Back in November I noted that Footcandy would be closing in downtown Walnut Creek by the end of the year and sure enough, yesterday was their last day in business. Did anyone get a great deal over the weekend or was everything gone?

Back in September I noted the opening of the pop-up “design house” store Toss Designs in Broadway Plaza next to Nordstrom that was to remain open through January but apparently business has been doing well so they will remain in the same location for at least one more year. As you can see they now have signage up as well.
