Back in April I noted that Mancini’s Sleepworld would be moving from their Locust St. location in downtown Walnut Creek to N. Main St. (where Giggle used to be) and they are now open in this new location.

Thanks to a reader for sending word that Nordstrom Rack will be opening next to Safeway in Pleasant Hill (near the Sunvalley Shopping Center) on September 12th.
From the Nordstrom Rack website:
Come early to celebrate
- At 8:00 am we will kick off our Rally at the Rock with music, breakfast treats and more
- Join us early for a chance to win one of 30 $100 gift cards
- Rule THE RACK: One lucky winner will receive a $1,000 gift card and early access to the store, beginning at 8:30am
- The first 1,000 shoppers who make a purchase wil receive a free reusable tote!
I peeked inside and although it’s not stocked yet it looks huge!
Personally what I find most interesting is that this Nordstrom Rack is located in Pleasant Hill and not Concord. Even the Nordstrom Rack gets it wrong as the new location states it’s in the Sunvalley Shopping Center in Concord, CA, but it lists the address as 703 Contra Costa Blvd in Pleasant Hill. When I checked out Google maps I see that the Sunvalley Shopping Center indeed is in Concord, but the border juts back out such that this location and Safeway next door are actually in Pleasant Hill. However according to the Sunvalley Shopping Center website, Safeway and Nordstrom Rack are listed there so it seems that these two stores are located in the Sunvalley Shopping Center but happen to be located outside the Concord border. Fascinating.
1571 Botelho Drive, Walnut Creek
Last week I noted that the men’s boutique Atlas was moving from its N. Main St. location, and now have learned that they will be moving to 1571 Botelho Drive, staying in downtown Walnut Creek. This location is right next to Paper Source and across the street from Men’s Wearhouse where Locust St. ends. As you can see from the photo above there is plenty of window space to show off the designs and I look forward to checking out the grand re-opening on August 30th!
Bath & Body Works has recently closed in Broadway Plaza in downtown Walnut Creek. Last week I noted that Brighton Collectibles temporarily moved to the backside of Broadway Plaza for remodeling so not sure what’s going on. Seems like musical chairs as J.Jill recently moved from one spot to another as well in Broadway Plaza.
1532 Locust St, Walnut Creek
I mistakenly posted about Head 2 Toe Reflexology opening in downtown Walnut Creek back in June, but that was only the signage. As you can see by the above photo they are definitely open now.
This could have been titled, “Succulent Garden of the Day (Chair Edition)”, but anyway, this cool chair was spotted at the gift boutique Wish on Boulevard Way in Walnut Creek.
The men’s clothing store Atlas on N. Main St. in downtown Walnut Creek that I wrote about back last September is moving to a larger location in downtown Walnut Creek. Stay tuned for the new location… Thanks to a reader for pointing out the For Lease sign.

Back in June I noted that the housewares and gift shop Entrez! Open House was closing in downtown Walnut Creek and now the OC Watch Company, a luxury, pre-owned watch seller will be opening at this location within a couple of weeks.
From their website:
The OC Watch Company specializes in luxury, pre-owned watches and is located in fashionable Walnut Creek. OC Watch Company specializes in buying, selling and trading high-end watches.
The OC comes from the owner, Kyle O’Connor’s last name. Kyle and his associates have over thirty years in the watch industry. Their knowledge is evident in the variety and quality of the time pieces for sale.
At OC Watch Company you receive a personalized shopping experience with Kyle as a guide to help in choosing the perfect watch to add to your collection.
Located in one of the best spots on Broadway Plaza right near the fountain, Brighton Collectibles is temporarily moving to the backside where AZN Jewelers used to be, across from See’s Candies in order to remodel their store. The grand re-opening will be on September 27th.
Temporary location:
Back in June I noted that the Twigs Floral & Art building was going to be demolished in Lafayette, and as you can see in the photo above it’s now gone, with only a lonely corner section standing for now. From this vantage point you can see straight through to Chow, although the parking lot that this will be turned into is meant for the Cooperage Grille, opening in November.
