After reading about the Walnut Creek Equestrian Center in this interesting Contra Costa Times article, I noticed that they are hosting a free horse faire on Saturday, April 7th. From their website:

Hitch up your wagons n’ saddle up your horses EVERYONE is invited to our 2012 Horse Faire on Saturday April 7th. Horse Faire is a FREE family-friendly event with exciting horse riding demos to watch; fun activities for the kids; great and reasonably-priced food and lots of wonderful things to buy, make or learn about in our vendor alley which will be full of vendor, crafts and informational booths. Horse Faire is held at our riding arenas in the back of Heather Farm Park at 390 N San Carlos Rd, Walnut Creek, CA from ~10am to 4pm on the Saturday before Easter Sunday. We look forward to seeing you there!

Who knew Walnut Creek had so many horses? And membership is only $10/year for adults and $5 for children. Sounds like a great deal.

Private Parking Ticket Enforcement in Action

January 6, 2012 8:30 am

I’ve been parking in the free Walnut Creek private parking garages for many years now, and I always note the signs stating that parking is only for 3 or 4 hours otherwise there is a $25 fine. I have witnessed chalk marking on the tires several times, but until yesterday I had never witnessed parking fee notices being issued. The photo above shows a parking garage employee issuing a parking fee notice that was left on the windshield shortly after.

The notice says:

INVOICE
PARKING FEE IMPOSED

By: Broadway Pointe

INVOICE FOR
PRIVATE PARKING CHARGE

THIS PARKING CHARGE
NOTICE IS NOT ISSUED
BY THE CITY OF
WALNUT CREEK

Crazy in Suburbia has a thorough report on this private parking charge situation, definitely check it out for more info.

January 4, 2012 11:30 am

Located at 1411 Locust St. in downtown Walnut Creek, Redux Lounge is a dance club that has a funky exterior. Never been inside. It seems like it changes names every few years but always stays a club for some reason. Anyone ever been here? Do you like it?
