Last month I noted that a gift shop called ECHO Grove would be opening in Orinda Theatre Square in downtown Orinda and the signage is now up along with a note, “Coming in April, 2014”. Check out their website here.

7:00pm – 8:00pm | $5For many Americans, the day does not truly begin until they have consumed a cup of their favorite morning beverage, be it coffee or tea. In this talk, Saint Mary’s Professor Dr. Anthony Talo will explore the physiology, biochemistry, and histories of the two plants used to create these popular drinks: Coffea and Camellia sinensis. Dr. Talo will trace their African and Asian origins and explain their critical role in the plantation economies of the 16th-20th centuries and their growth to becoming the global powerhouses they are today. Tasting sponsored by Whole Foods Lafayette!

The Cooperage opened a couple of weeks ago and I dropped by for dinner over the weekend and was lucky to snag a small booth without a reservation. Even though it was very early in the evening the place was absolutely packed. Check out the entire dinner menu here. Of course I had to try the Cooperage Burger “Angus burger, lettuce, tomato, pickle, red onion jam, toasted bun, Kennebec French fries”. Check out those onion rings on top of the burger, delicious! Possibly the best onion rings I’ve ever had. The burger was less fatty compared to what I’ve had elsewhere but quite tasty. At a reasonable $13 I’ll be back for more.

Now that the weather has cleared up and is getting warmer out brunch has been on my mind lately. My usual routine is to fire up the waffle maker on Sunday mornings with some freshly squeezed orange juice and a big pot of loose tea but it would be nice to go out for a yummy brunch somewhere nearby. Pizza Antica has started offering brunch recently and there are plenty of other eateries as well. So for today’s question, what is your favorite place for brunch?

Last I month I noted that the women’s boutique Lanvie would be relocating to the Clock Tower in downtown Lafayette and they are now open. They are right next to Francesca’s Fashion.
