May 10, 2016 11:30 am

1444 N. California Blvd, Walnut Creek

The iconic baseball bat door handles may be gone, but according to the Bay Area Newsgroup the restaurant MoMo’s, located next to AT&T Park in San Francisco is opening a second location in downtown Walnut Creek where McCovey’s used to be. Slater’s 50/50 was supposed to open here but that obviously fell through. Check out MoMo’s menus here.

From their website:

MoMo’s opened in 1998 and was so named in memory of our proprietor’s grandmother and mentor, whom he affectionately called MoMo. Located on the lively South of Market waterfront, we pride ourselves on offering a true San Francisco experience.

From an abundance of outdoor seating to a privileged view of AT&T Ballpark, we enjoy unique and distinct features that set us apart. Whether you choose to eat in our comfortable yet sophisticated dining room, outside on the patio or sitting at our famous bar, we provide high quality food and service throughout.

Come see for yourself why MoMo’s has become a San Francisco icon. MoMo’s is part of the Golden Bear Restaurant Corporation.

Round 1 Bowling & Amusement Coming to Sunvalley Shopping Center in Concord

May 10, 2016 8:30 am

Sunvalley Shopping Center, Concord

The food court in Sunvalley Shopping Center in Concord reopened recently and right nearby one can see the giant signs for Round 1 Bowling & Amusement. According to the Round One’s Sunvalley employment page, there will be video games, bowling, and karaoke. Sounds fun! Based on the alcoholic beverage sign above it looks like they will also offer beer and food.

Although the sign says “opening summer 2016” when I peeked inside it didn’t look close to being done.

Celebrate National Public Gardens Day:

The Gardens at Heather Farm
1540 Marchbanks Dr, Walnut Creek
Friday, May 6th, 2016
10:00am – 3:00pm | Free

The Gardens at Heather Farm is proud to announce participation with American Public Gardens Association for “National Public Gardens Day” on Friday, May 6, offering a schedule of free activities throughout the day. The Gardens invites visitors to share in this valuable community resource and experience the wonders of nature provided by its six-acre public garden and wildlife habitat nestled on a picturesque hillside in Walnut Creek.

The Gardens offers a place to learn about and enjoy an inspiring variety of flowers, trees and wildlife. A Youth Education Program provides natural science classes to over 15,000 local students, while an Adult Education Program offers lectures and workshops perfect for home gardeners and nature lovers. A series of garden beautification projects have recently been completed, with plans on the horizon to build a greenhouse that will enrich the garden and expand teaching opportunities.

Bring a picnic lunch, learn more about The Gardens’ organization and celebrate the wonderful world of gardening on National Public Gardens Day!

On Friday, May 6, between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., visitors to The Gardens will enjoy the following free activities:

● 10-11 a.m. Spring Floral Arranging Demonstration by popular designer, Najat Nicola, using roses and fresh floral cuttings from The Gardens property
