Earlier this week we learned that GODIVA opened in Broadway Plaza where I enjoyed a $6 soft serve ice cream. A couple of people complained about the quality of GODIVA chocolates saying, “never thought much of their chocolates anyway, taste waxy” as well as “I’m more of a Valrhona fan than a Godiva one anyways”.
I’m also a fan of Valrhona, and recently when I was in San Francisco I stopped by Dandelion Chocolate and tried some incredible craft chocolate. What’s your favorite chocolate?

2905 N. Main St, Walnut Creek
In July we learned that Forever Yogurt would be opening at the corner of N. Main St. and Geary Rd. in Walnut Creek and according to the signage the “boba tea and bao shop” Bee & Tea will also be opening in this spot. Sounds like a great combination!
From the Bee & Tea website:
Bee & Tea is on a mission to make boba tea mainstream. With a vibrant and urban storefront, we want everyone to experience our top quality Taiwanese boba milk tea beverages by offering a wide variety of flavor, sweetness, and topping options for each guest’s brew. Bee & Tea is modernizing the boba tea world to bring personalized beverage creations, mouthwatering bao and a chic service to you.
Bao are steamed, soft, sweet buns stuffed with only the freshest ingredients like pork, miso steak, BBQ beef and Japanese curry chicken that will leave you wanting more after just one bite.
Bao buns have an ancient legacy in China, dating back more than 2,000 years. But that doesn’t mean we can’t have fun with these delicious on-the-go snacks today. Our handmade bao fillings are cooked exclusively for Bee & Tea stores, rotating featured recipes so you can try something new on every visit!
Cal Shakes Theater
100 California Shakespeare Theater Way, Orinda
Wednesday, September 14th – Sunday, October 9th, 2016Black. Muslim. Outsider. These are the labels Shakespeare’s most famous Moor has carried with him as he’s climbed the military ranks. Having survived battle after battle in faraway lands, Othello’s greatest tragedy lies in those closest to him: his trusted friend, his beloved wife—and himself. In his Cal Shakes directorial debut, artistic director, Eric Ting, will face our society’s fear of “the other” head on with this provocative investigation of Othello.
Diamond Blvd, Concord
Back in April we learned that a new shopping center called The Veranda would be opening in Concord right next to the Willows Shopping Center where former Chevron offices used to be on Diamond Blvd. and the demolition is almost over. With a 365 by Whole Foods supermarket plus a movie theater this is going to be a great compliment to Willows. I look forward to checking it out when it opens next year.
La Fiesta Square, Lafayette
Art and Science of Eyewear is relocating within La Fiesta Square in Lafayette from their current spot next to Starbucks on Mt. Diablo Blvd. to the former Itrim location on Moraga Rd. and are planning on opening sometime in November. Check out their website here and look for their booth at the Lafayette Art & Wine festival this weekend.
