Spotted in Danville. The dice are a nice touch. 🙂
370 Hartz Ave, Danville
Hartz Cafe opened last spring in Danville but it was closed when I stopped by over the weekend and looked pretty empty inside. I also noticed a realtor lock box on the door handle. Anyone know what’s going on over there?
1501 N. Broadway, Walnut Creek
Azia Rugs relocated recently within downtown Walnut Creek where Bella Mar Boutique used to be. According to a person working there, the owner is retiring but another person may be taking over so it may live on. If you’re looking for a Middle Eastern rug check this place out.
Downtown Pleasant Hill Shopping Center
It’s only been a couple of years since San Ramon-based Fat Maddie’s opened in the Downtown Pleasant Hill shopping center but they have now closed. Their San Ramon and Danville locations remain open. Thanks to a reader for emailing about this.
Broadway Plaza, Walnut Creek
The SoCal-based men’s clothing store, TravisMathew, is coming soon to Broadway Plaza in Walnut Creek where Lou & Grey used to be. Check out their online selection here.
Sprouts Shopping Center, Walnut Creek
Thanks to a reader for sending word that Mo•ni Coffee & Tea opened recently at the Sprouts shopping center in Walnut Creek where The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf used to be. This is the first of a family owned cafe, not a chain and looks really amazing inside. Besides the ambiance, I tried the beet hummus avocado toast (check out the photos after the jump) and it was delicious! I’ll be back for sure (if I can find parking). Check out their menu here.
From their Facebook page:
Judith made Mo•ni with the vision of creating a coffee shop that is a relaxing and comfortable environment for everyone! Mo•ni is here to be your newest go to coffee stop, in the mornings in the way to work, for your mid day pick me up, and any other coffee cravings you might have!
More photos of the inside after the jump…
Broadway Plaza, Walnut Creek
The Laguna Beach-based jewelry store gorjana opened recently at Broadway Plaza in Walnut Creek. As you can see in the above photo the entire front facade can be rolled up for the ultimate indoor-outdoor retail experience. Inside is light and airy with a relaxing SoCal beach vibe. Check out their online selection here.
From their website:
In 2004, Gorjana Reidel followed a creative impulse and launched an eponymous, quintessentially Californian jewelry line with the help of her husband, Jason Griffin Reidel.
The driven and passionate duo combined their individual strengths to build the company from the ground up. They hit the road with samples in tow and drove a collective 50,000 miles to sell the initial collection. Initial orders were fulfilled from their apartment floor and they worked the trade show circuit as a team of two.
These days almost everyone carries around their own phone so pay phones have gone the way of the dodo. No matter where I am I see people glued to their phones rather than being present wherever they may be. I’m guilty of this at times as well. Pay phones used to be ubiquitous around cities and were a pain to use at times, but do you ever feel nostalgic for them?
Rheem Valley Shopping Center, Moraga
New Delhi Bistro opened back in 2012 at the Rheem Valley shopping center in Moraga but it became a vegetarian restaurant, Bagaan, last year. Thanks to a reader for pointing out that it reverted back to New Delhi Bistro but the, “Baagan burger selection is also still available.”
