A couple of weeks ago I noted that Mancini’s Sleepworld was opening in the former Giggle baby store on N. Main St. in downtown Walnut Creek and of course that means their old location on Locust St. is closing. Since this space will be available what would you like to see?

Back in April I noted that the Vietnamese fusion restaurant Vanessa’s Bistro would be moving to Locust St. in downtown Walnut Creek where the Turkish restaurant Bosphorus used to be and today is their opening day. Check out their lunch menu here and dinner menu here. Photos of the inside follow below. The bar is smaller than their previous location on N. Main St. There is also an additional dining area upstairs. Thanks to a reader for sending word that it would be reopening this week.
Note the ‘2’ as in Vanessa’s Bistro 2, the official name of the Walnut Creek location:
Vanessa’s Bistro is located at 1512 Locust St. in downtown Walnut Creek a short walk from the Lesher Center for the Arts.
Back in January I noted that the building at the corner of N. Broadway and Cypress was getting demolished to make way for a new building to house La Soie Bridal Salon and construction has now begun. There will also be office space on the second floor.
In January I noted the progress on the Almond Station homes and now these houses are almost finished. Check out the designs here. Located at Oakland Blvd. and Almond Ave, if you plan on commuting via BART this would be a great location as it’s about a 10 minute walk to BART and a short walk to downtown Walnut Creek as well.
The backside of the houses:
I believe this is the duet in the back on Almond Ave:
Head 2 Toe Reflexology & Massage recently opened in downtown Walnut Creek on Locust St. I believe another massage place used to be at this location so not much has changed.
From the Walnut Creek Police Department:
Suspect(s): White male adult, approximately 24 years old, 5 ft 9 inches to 6 ft tall, medium build, blonde hair, with some facial hair wearing a white shirt and baseball cap. Suspect was armed with a firearm.
On June 12, 2013 at approximately 5:54 pm, the above listed suspect entered Cigarettes for Less in the Palos Verde Mall and attempted to rob the employee with a firearm. When the suspect displayed the firearm the employee, in fear of their life, ran out of the store. The suspect fled from the store without obtaining any money or merchandise. Officers searched the area with the aid of the K9 but were unable to locate the suspect. The victim did not sustain any injuries.
