Get your deerstalker cap on – the play’s afoot! Comedic genius Ken Ludwig transforms Arthur Conan Doyle’s classic The Hound of the Baskervilles into a murderously funny adventure. Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson are on the case. Watch as our inrepid investigators try to escape a dizzying web of clues, silly accents, disguises, and deceit as five actors deftly portray more than 40 characters.

Back in June we learned about a new gourmet convenience store called ENroute which would be opening across from Parada at the Avalon apartemnts near the Pleasant Hill BART station and the “opening soon” signage is up as well as a website with more details including a page on the products that will be offered such as, “pasta & dried goods, healthy breakfast, grab-n-go lunch / dinner, flowers and more. I look forward to checking this place out!

The ravishingly beautiful songs sparkle with wit, and there’s plenty of comedy from the actors hired by the fathers to push along their schemes. The world’s longest-running musical, The Fantasticks has run for over 50 years, entrancing generations of audiences the world over. The famous score, including classics “Try To Remember,” “They Were You,” and “Soon It’s Gonna Rain,” is as timeless as the story itself.
Running Time: approx. 2 hours, with one intermission

Another day, another Starbucks opens in Walnut Creek, this time in the Orchards shopping center where of course a Starbucks inside Safeway exists a couple of doors down.
Broadway Plaza, Walnut Creek
It came as a surprise to me when I parked my car at Broadway Plaza a couple of weeks ago that they still hadn’t started charging for parking at their garages. They were supposed to begin charging September 12th but it’s still free to park. According to a text message from Broadway Plaza, they, “do not have a set date for when [they] will be adding the parking charge”.

Shops at the new Orchards shopping center across from Encina Grande on Ygnacio Rd. are slowly opening up with the latest being Petco. With Petsmart opening across the street at Encina Grande it will be great for local pet owners.

In April we learned that the home decor and furniture shop Z Gallerie would be returning to downtown Walnut Creek early next year but according to the signage on the window vacated by Anthropologie look for a November opening. Their website notes a December opening so we’ll see….
