There has been quite a bit of news lately about five schools from the Northgate area in Walnut Creek wanting to split from the 32,000 student Mt. Diablo school district which includes schools in Concord, Pleasant Hill, Pittsburg, Martinez and elsewhere. Check out the proposal for the proposed Northgate school district here. According to this NBC Bay Area article, many opposed the plan as “discriminatory and elitist”. Do you think so? If you lived in Northgate would you want to split to form a new district?
