A new coffee shop called Tellus Coffee is opening this Wednesday in downtown Walnut Creek. I stopped by for the soft opening yesterday and was impressed by both the inside ambiance as well as the Golden Milk Latte made with chai tea and turmeric, and the blueberry scone I tried. The living green and brick walls with plenty of natural light is going to be an amazing place to hang out. Once Covid restrictions are loosened there are plans to serve alcohol. In the meantime, drop by beginning from Wednesday through Sunday from 8am – 3pm and check out their menu here.
From their website:
Our Walnut Creek location features plenty of natural light and a beautiful green plant wall, with plenty of space to lounge or work in. The extensive espresso and coffee menu is always made in our in-house zero-emissions roaster, we feature an exciting assortment of lose leaf teas, and our food, beer, and wines are locally sourced and served fresh!
Due to the pandemic and subsequent transition to remote work, people have been moving around a lot more recently now that they’re no longer tied down to an office. Some have left the cities for the suburbs, while others have left California altogether. Are you planning to move or are you happy where you are now?

A new convenience and gift shop called Baba & Cece opened recently in Danville where Snickerdoodles used to be. Judging from their Facebook page, they have quite a variety of baked goods and food to-go choices like brownies, garlicky Szechuan crabs, organic chicken curry, and more. I look forward to trying this place out!

Check out the progress on The Mill on Brown townhomes in Lafayette, “arriving late 2021”. Built by Branagh Development, these are two bedroom townhomes, ranging from 1,119 to 1,879 sq. ft. Check out the floorplans here. Of the 13 available townhomes, two are Below-Market-Rate (BMR).
From their website:
The juxtaposition of turn-of-the-century with state-of-the-art design embodies the essence of nonconforming architecture. The Sacramento River-style brick and rustic browns echo the tones of the nearby oak-studded hillsides.

Also to be renamed are schools named for John Muir, Thomas Jefferson, Dianne Feinstein and others. Do you agree with all, some or none of the school being renamed?
