Crumbl Cookies opened late last year at Rossmoor Town Center in Walnut Creek. Check out their online selection here and Walnut Creek page here. I read an article in the NY Times about Crumbl recently and wonder if these cookies are worth it?
Broadway Plaza, Walnut Creek
Last September, we learned that the sustainable shoe brand Allbirds would be coming to Broadway Plaza in downtown Walnut Creek, and they have now opened. Check out their online selection here. When I dropped by over the weekend, some merchandise was on sale for 25% off, and there was a distinctive Walnut Creek pin to celebrate the opening. I was pleasantly surprised how comfortable the wool runner shoes felt!
1506 N. Main St, Walnut Creek
The Library Social Club, under the same ownership as The Hideout Kitchen in Lafayette, opened recently in downtown Walnut Creek where Guava Island Eats used to be.

I assumed this was going to be a restaurant but I confused it with the restaurant Yard House at the Veranda in Concord.

Thanks to a reader for sending word that Bonehead’s Texas BBQ, which opened in Lafayette back in 2015, was sold to All the Smoke BBQ. With the tagline, “All the Smoke Ain’t No Joke”, you can bet your brisket that I’m fired up to give this joint a try!
Orinda Theatre Square
Last year, we learned that Comelones Tacos would be coming to Orinda Theatre Square, and they have now opened. Check for updates on their Facebook page here.
Gateway Centre, San Ramon
Bober Tea & Coffee + Mochi Dough opened recently at Gateway Centre in San Ramon. Bober Tea opened a little over a year ago at Plaza Escuela in downtown Walnut Creek and I don’t recall mochi donuts being available there at the time so this must be something new? Check out the San Ramon menu here. Alas, I don’t see mochi donuts listed on their online menu either.
City Center Bishop Ranch, San Ramon
The pastry shop Miette opened recently at City Center Bishop Ranch in San Ramon. After savoring a scrumptious Dulce de Leche macaron, I found myself at Salt & Straw’s doorstep next door, where the sweet, sweet ice cream flavors proved too tempting to resist. As a result, I ended up indulging in a kid’s scoop after lunch. Check out Miette’s online selection here. I’ll be back for more macarons next time.
Lafayette Mercantile
In November, we learned that Venture Goods would be relocating to Lafayette Mercantile, taking over the former space of Jos. A. Bank. And now, Venture Goods has officially opened their doors! The new location is much more spacious than their previous one, with separate sections for both men’s and women’s clothing, as well as a selection of bags and other high-quality goods.
