1630 Cypress St, Walnut Creek
Marufuku Ramen, featuring Hakata-style tonkotsu ramen, is coming to downtown Walnut Creek where Extreme Pizza used to be. Check out their Oakland pickup menu here.

Rich white chicken paitan ramen with chicken cha-shu is also featured on the menu, along with a variety of mini-sized rice bowls, izakaya-style appetizers, and premium beer and sake.
1613 N. Main St, Walnut Creek
Last month, we learned that Highline Custom Jewelry would be coming to downtown Walnut Creek and they have now opened. Check out their online selection here. Despite most certainly not being their target customer, I highly enjoyed checking out their offerings. I have never seen anything like this and encourage everyone to check this place out, even if you’re not in the market for a diamond grill.
3660 Mount Diablo Blvd, Lafayette
Although it’s not visible in the above photo, there has been a lot of progress with Western Flyer Brewing coming to a new retail complex across from Trader Joe’s in Lafayette. Check out their Insta here.

In April, we learned that 8Moose Pizzeria would be coming to Orinda where Nation’s used to be, and they have now opened. Check out their menu here.

1522 N. Main St, Walnut Creek
SanDai Nusantara Californian and Kopi Bar, which opened a couple of years ago in downtown Walnut Creek, has been “temporarily” closed for months now. A sign in the window states:
We are in the midst of some exciting changes and will be closed this week as we make improvements. We can’t wait to share what’s next with you! Thank you for your patience and support, we will be back soon, better than ever. Stay tuned!
That being said, their website in defunct, their Insta hasn’t had an update since February, and mail is piling up when I looked inside the front doors.
Plaza Escuela, Walnut Creek
In January, we learned that North Italia would be coming to Plaza Escuela in downtown Walnut Creek, and as you can see in the above photo, the ABC licensing sign has been posted in front of Tilly’s so looks like things are progressing. Check out their menus here.
