In May, we learned that the baby goods store buybuy BABY would be closing in Pleasant Hill, next to Best Buy, and Rasputin Music & DVDs has relocated to this spot. Broadway Plaza, Walnut Creek
The North Face is coming to Broadway Plaza where The Gap used to be. Check out their online selection here. Is this serendipity that a shop starting with The is replaced by a shop starting with The as well? Or is something deeper at play here?

In September, we learned that The Cooperage would be relocating from their prime Lafayette spot to downtown Walnut Creek where Sakimoto Sushi Lounge, and before that, Corners Tavern, used to be, and they have now opened. Check out their main menu here, and brunch menu here.

Thanks to a reader for sending word that Green Fish Seafood Market is coming to Walnut Creek where Walnut Creek Produce used to be, next to Il Pavone. It looks like this place has an existing market in Oakland Chinatown. Find out more about the history of the Oakland market here.

Smallcakes Cupcakery and Creamery, which opened over five years ago at Danville Square, has rebranded as Batter ‘N Icing. Check out their menu here.

A store called Crystal Dreams is “coming soon” to downtown Walnut Creek where Ming Quong used to be. Smart move to choose this spot which seems similar in at least some respects I suspect.
