2280 Oak Grove Road, Walnut Creek
Back in September I noted that the Dublin based bakery and restaurant Denica’s would be opening a Walnut Creek location (in the Nob Hill shopping center) and they are now open (h/t Patch). Check out their menu here. This looks like a good place for brunch, anyone go yet? What do you recommend? When I dropped by they had various sample trays with cookies above the pastry counter. They also offer fruit-infused water which is a nice touch.

1601 N. Main St, Walnut Creek
Last week I posted a preview of an eclectic new bike store called Rivendell Bike, Book & Hatchet and they are now open on N. Main St. in downtown Walnut Creek. In addition to bikes they sell books, hatchets, clothing and various accessories such as pinetar soap, bamboo banks and more. You’ll just have to drop by and check it out for yourself. It’s quite cool.
I don’t know much about bicycles but they look amazing. Take a look at one of their models in the photo below.
A selection of books are on the other side with clothing and accessories in the middle:
Check out photos of the hatchet wall, record player and pinetar soap after the jump…
I can’t believe another year has gone by as this blog turns two! Thanks to everyone for stopping by and also for any tips and suggestions you’ve had over the past year, this blog wouldn’t be what it is without your participation and sharing.
The luxury British fashion store Burberry is closing its doors permanently in Broadway Plaza. Unlike other stores that are temporarily relocating within Broadway Plaza or elsewhere in downtown Walnut Creek, Burberry won’t be back according to an employee I spoke with.

The Lafayette Youth Commission has created a haunted house every year since 2004. Some past themes have included Haunted Castle, Haunted Fairy Tales and last year’s Haunted Camp Ground. Come trick or treat through the Haunted Hotel and meet witches, clowns and more during the not so scary version of the house for ages 7 and under and their parents. The very scary version of the Haunted Hotel is appropriate for the very brave ages 8 & up. The Haunted Hotel will be touring visitors on Friday, October 25th and Sunday, October 27th at the Lafayette Community Center at 500 St. Mary’s Rd.
