For 2013′s Bike to Work Day on May 9th, over 200 Energizer Stations will be located along local bike commute routes in all nine Bay Area counties to provide free beverages, snacks, and good cheer to bicyclists. Orinda Resident Charged with Molesting Boy

Orinda resident and former high school baseball coach Joel Kaufman has been charged with molesting a teenage boy as well as secretly filming another in the East Bay. According to ABC News Kaufman has disappeared and police are searching for him.

From the ABC News article:

Kaufman owns Triple Play Batting Cages in San Leandro. He is the head coach of California Smoke Baseball Club, a travelling high school club.

Kaufman also coached at Bishop O’Dowd High School between 1999 and 2005. The Oakland Diocese said Thursday that no parents have come forward to say their son was abused, but police think there could be more victims.

For the fourth year, San Francisco’s laugh-lovers will have the renewed opportunity to enjoy a champagne-filled night of comedy at the landmark Orinda Theatre on Friday, March 8th. The Orinda Chamber of Commerce in collaboration with Tommy T’s Comedy Clubs today announced the fourth “Live at the Orinda” event. Past events gained rave reviews for a great night on the town.

The evening will start at 7:00 p.m. and feature no host bars in the lobby and theatre. Champagne, wine and mixed drinks can also be purchased during the performances, starting at 8:00 p.m. with a mid-show intermission. Master of Ceremonies Wayne Coy, 92.1 KKDV radio personality, will open the show and introduce comedians. This year’s slate features Kabeezy, David Van Avermaete, Arthur Gaus and headliner Will Durst, who The New York Times calls “possibly the best political comic in the country” returning fresh from a recent tour with all new material. The Dam Run Sat. Jan. 19th at San Pablo Dam in Orinda

Where: 500 San Pablo Dam Road, Orinda, CA
The Dam Run – 5K/10K Run-Walk
**The race will be on a closed course, beginning at the San Pablo Dam boat launch ramp, at the San Pablo Reservoir located at the Orinda entrance (not the El Sobrante entrance) to the Reservoir. No cars will be allowed into the Reservoir after 8:40am, the gates will be CLOSED.

Same day registration will be from 7:15 am – 8:30 am.
The race will begin at 9 am and take place on the scenic old San Pablo Dam Road and trail.

Jazz in the New Year on Wed. Jan. 16th at the Orinda Library

The Winter Music Series continues as the Orinda Library hosts a trio of talented musicians: Carol Alban (vocals/flute), Frank Martin (keys)and Marc Levine (bass). They will share selections from the Great American Songbook including Night and Day by Cole Porter, Summertime by Gershwin and Fly Me to the Moon by Bart Howard. Join us as we start off the new year with jazz in the library. This performance is free and takes place inside the library.

The performance takes place from 6:30pm – 7:30pm at the Orinda Library.
