It seems like online ride hailing services are becoming more and more popular. I’ve used Uber in San Francisco and New York and came very close to using the child friendly service HopSkipDrive in the East Bay. Do you use these services, or do you drive for them? How do you like them compared to taxis?
Now that we know that Broadway Plaza will soon start charging for parking at their downtown Walnut Creek garages (after 2 hours), there is a already petition to boycott the plaza for the new policy. Apparently some employers will pay for their employees parking and some won’t.

This week we learned that the fast food restaurant Jack in the Box closed in Moraga which got me wondering what would eventually replace it. It’s been a very long time since I’ve been to McDonald’s but I do enjoy an In-N-Out burger every now and then. I also enjoy Chipotle. What is your favorite fast food restaurant?
I’ve been reading a lot about the app Pokemon Go becoming super popular around the country as people use their mobile phones to try to capture virtual creatures based on their current location. I have to admit, to encourage my kids to get out more I installed it to see what it was all about and we went for a walk which was quite entertaining. A recent visit to the Moraga Commons park was teaming with kids staring at their phones no doubt playing Pokemon Go as well. Quite remarkable. Do you play Pokemon Go? If so, what do you like about it?

Today whilst visiting the farmers market in WC, I noticed the new pavement, (sidewalk), deck outside Residual Sugar. Have we finally succumbed to the Euro lifestyle? With perfect weather for outdoor dining it seems about time. Having visited Le Touquet many, many times and seen how they grab large chunks of the road to extend their restaurants in the summer, I find it very exciting. SO whats happening?
I’ve noticed this not only in Walnut Creek but around Lafayette as well, where parking spots have been turned into outdoor dining patios.
Yesterday we learned that Cocola Bakery will be opening soon in Broadway Plaza in Walnut Creek. With plenty of bakeries open in the East Bay, do you have a favorite? What’s your go-to item?
With summer well under way I’m wondering what books are on people’s reading list this summer. What are you most looking to read?
The main part of Broadway Plaza reopened at the end of last year with several new stores moving in (NYX Cosmetics, Vince Camuto, Madewell and more), as well as several relocations and this week the backside of Broadway Plaza reopened, also with new stores opening and others relocating such as GAP from downtown Walnut Creek. It’s still a work in progress as stores open up over the next few months, not to mention Zara coming to the former location of the Macy’s Men’s store.
How do you think the Broadway Plaza redevelopment turned out? Do you like the lounge areas? Of all the stores I like the GAP design the best. Now I’m waiting for Boudin and True Kitchen to open… What are you looking forward to opening?
As summer rolls around, big blockbuster movies are on the horizon such as Independence Day – Resurgence, the Ghostbusters remake, and more. For nostalgia-sake I’m looking forward to Ghostbusters, what movie are you most looking forward to watching this summer?
Juice bars have been popping up all over lately with the latest being Urban Remedy coming to La Fiesta Square in Lafayette in the near future. I’ve never been a huge fan of juice especially ones that cost an arm and a leg but recently I had the opportunity to sample cold pressed juices at the pizza joint Slice House (see menu here) in downtown Walnut Creek and was impressed. I thought juice was juice but it was really delicious. Do you enjoy cold pressed juices at these new juice bars? If so, what is your favorite juicery and flavor?
