There’s something about yellow Lamoborghinis… Spotted at Broadway Plaza in Walnut Creek.

Downtown Pleasant Hill Shopping Center
The Friends Books Store, featuring donated books to the Pleasant Hill library, opened last summer where Corner Bakery Cafe used to be in the Downtown Pleasant Hill shopping center.
From their website:
Welcome to the Friends of the Pleasant Hill Library Book Store, a nonprofit, all-volunteer organization. We have an extensive inventory of gently used books, DVDs, CDs and audio books as well as games, puzzles and other niche items. All proceeds will go towards programs, books, resources and services for the new library.

Last week we learned that Coffee Shop closed in downtown Walnut Creek, but it turns out they’re moving to the Mexican restaurant, Maria Maria, a few blocks away. According to this Instagram post, they will be, “joining concepts with [Maria Maria] to become a restaurant in the morning with expanded menu/cocktails and seating.”

Geary Marketplace, Walnut Creek

I like to take the garbage out at night. Sometimes I wonder how I would feel taking out the garbage if I lived in Alaska or Florida. Would I be attacked by a Grizzly bear? An alligator? This week a child in Moraga was bitten by a coyote but thankfully was able to escape with the help of their parent. A few years ago I encountered a pack of coyotes nearby that was somewhat disconcerting even if I’m not a child. When I run on empty trails I worry about mountain lions.
Do you worry about wild animal attacks or are there more important things to worry about?

The store where fur retailer Maximilian opened in December 2019 in downtown Walnut Creek, is for lease, as can be seen in the above photo.

1321 Locust St, Walnut Creek
Coffee Shop, which opened almost six years ago in downtown Walnut Creek, has closed. According to a sign in their window, their Alamo and Lafayette cafes remain open, and they wrote that, “we are in the process of moving the store to another location in WC”. Their latest Instagram post mentions a beer garden at their Lafayette spot with a link to Lafayette Public House.

This week the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommended double masking to prevent infection from the more spreadable variants that are doubling about every 10 days.
From the CDC website:
CDC conducted experiments to assess two ways of improving the fit of medical procedure masks: fitting a cloth mask over a medical procedure mask, and knotting the ear loops of a medical procedure mask and then tucking in and flattening the extra material close to the face. Each modification substantially improved source control and reduced wearer exposure.
Are you going to follow their suggestions to protect yourself before you get vaccinated or are you going to risk it with only one mask? I’ve been happy with my double layer mask fit with disposable filter sandwiched in-between but maybe I should add another mask? I feel like it’s not necessary but if I do catch it I don’t know if I’ll forgive myself.
