I often refer to downtown Walnut Creek which encompasses the Broadway Plaza shopping center and other shops located downtown that reaches the Lesher Center for the Arts several blocks away. Same goes for downtown Lafayette which includes La Fiesta Square, and other shops located in the vicinity.
I cannot do the same with downtown Pleasant Hill because the Downtown Pleasant Hill Shopping Center is known as, “Downtown Pleasant Hill”. Check out the Downtown Pleasant Hill website here. At first glance you might think it was sponsored by the Pleasant Hill Chamber of Commerce or downtown association. However this is the shopping center’s website. From the point of view of the shopping center I think it’s great for them to be known as “downtown Pleasant Hill” but it sure is confusing! I wonder how the city ever allowed them to use this name?

This week we learned that the Cajun restaurant Rockin Crawfish opened in Concord. It’s been quite a long time since I’ve tried Cajun food and was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed it. I’m curious what your favorite ethnic restaurant is?
From the Walnut Creek PD:
On 2/16/15, employees of Starbucks at 1152 Locust St. reported that they found a video recorder that had been secreted in the unisex bathroom at the business during the hours of2:30PM – 4:00 and it had recorded several customers using the restroom.
On Tuesday 4/14/15 Starbucks employees at the same location reported finding another video camera secreted in the restroom. The camera had been in the restroom recording customers using the restroom between 2PM- 3PM. Walnut Creek PD officers investigated the incidents and developed evidence that indicated that Turner was the suspect that placed the camera.
On Thursday, 4/16/15, WCPD detectives assisted by Benicia PD served a search warrant at Turner’s residence on Oxford Dr. in Benicia. Turner was arrested on a warrant charging him with multiple counts of 647 J (3) (a) PC.
Walnut Creek PD detectives are attempting to identify the victims that used the Starbucks restroom during the above timeframes that were unknowingly recorded.

Rockin Crawfish, the Cajun restaurant from Oakland has opened a new location in Concord at the Park ‘N’ Shop in Concord. Check out their food menu here and beverage menu here. The inside has a fun, eclectic feel with records, guitars, license plates and of course artistic drawings of crawfish plastered on the walls. There is plenty of seating and large bar area throughout. Check out the photos of the inside below to get a feel for how it looks.
It’s been a while since I’ve been to New Orleans and this cuisine was so tempting that I ordered the crawfish boil ($13.99/market price). You choose the spiciness when ordering (I chose original which, although is less than mild, still had plenty kick for me), and after a short while a pound of piping hot crawfish in a clear, plastic bag along with a bib and a plate of lemons and a salty pepper dipping powder is ready to devour. The waitress explained that most people squeeze the lemons into the powder so you can dip the crawfish. First, you remove the shell from the head and suck the juice out. Then you remove the meat from the tail, dip into the sauce, and enjoy. Nothing else is edible. Crawfish don’t have much meat but there are plenty of crawfish in the bag. I recommend getting a side of steamed rice. It’s quite a bit of work but it’s delicious and if ever there were a place to enjoy cajun cooking this is it!
