Yesterday the big news went out that Dunkin’ Donuts is coming to Walnut Creek. Meanwhile, if you have been reading this blog you knew about this back in December when I first posted about this. 10:30am – 12:oopmOur Western Lecture Series begins on February 27 with a presentation; ‘The U.S. Cavalry in the West: Cutting Through the Mythology’, about the history of the United States Cavalry by Frederick Klink. An avid horseman who competes in Three-Day Eventing, Fred comes from a family of military horsemen. His grandfather was a cavalry officer and his father served as a warrant officer of artillery, initially with a horse-drawn regiment. Fred has made an extensive study of the history of the US Cavalry and has been a member of the US Cavalry Association since 1986, and has been a member of their Board of Directors and Vice President since the mid-90s.

Last month we learned that Pacifc Bay Coffee Co. closed temporarily for remodeling at the corner of Newell Ave. and S. Main St, and diagonally across in the new Village development you can see the Starbucks “Coming Soon” sign up so it looks like this will be the first place to open in the new development. The is the same development where California Pizza Kitchen will be relocating to around the corner.

Last month we learned that the deep discount retailer Rick’s Picks would be closing in Danville on Hartz Ave. and they have now closed after being in that spot for 12 years. You can still visit them at their Pleasanton location on Main St.
