Are these tree mats in downtown Walnut Creek new? Weren’t these gravel until just recently? I believe these mats allow water to pass through. Very nice looking!

Thanks to a reader for pointing out that the pet boutique rororiri, which opened a few years ago in downtown Walnut Creek, has closed. According to a sign in the window, they will be reopening next month at the Stanford shopping center in Palo Alto. Check out their online shop here. Look for Board & Brush to eventually relocate to this spot.

In June, we learned that Bay Area-based Japanese gourmet rice balls (aka onigiri) restaurant ONIGILLY would be coming to downtown Walnut Creek with an expected August opening, but obviously that’s not happened yet. Several years ago, I posted about the Danger, Stay Out – Stay Alive sign across from Broadway Plaza in Walnut Creek. Sad to see how dried up it is now. I remember geese swimming around there in the not so distant past. Hopefully, more water will come this rainy season.
