Diablo Dish reports that San Francisco-based Smitten Ice Cream, which uses liquid nitrogen to make their ice cream in 60 seconds, may be replacing Cold Stone Creamery in La Fiesta Square in downtown Lafayette. Stay tuned…

Last October I pointed out how ridiculous it was that Starbucks was selling $6 juice drinks. I would like to apologize for that post as apparently $6 juice drinks are now considered a bargain judging by the juice drinks being sold at the Lafayette Whole Foods. $12 for a Cashew, vanilla, cinnamon, agave drink, $8 for a Lemon, cayenne, agave drink. Maybe I should stick with the black water instead.

8:00pm (2:00pm Sunday) | $15THE presents Much Ado About Nothing – Widely regarded as Shakespeare’s finest comedy, “Much Ado About Nothing” focuses on Beatrice and Benedick–two sharp-tongued exes whose friends plot to make one fall in love with the other. Add to that two young lovers thwarted by rumors, a jilted brother and an insane watchman, and you have one of the funniest stories ever told.

Lafayette Reservoir
I remember scrambling for change too many times while parking at the Lafayette Reservoir over the years so it’s nice to see a new lot and meters that accept credit cards. The metered spots run $1.50 per hour, max 2 hours and there is also separate parking for those with annual passes. That being said I now park on Mt. Diablo Blvd. for free and just walk or run up as it’s so close by.

Last month I noted that the vitamin store GNC was opening in the Lafayette Shopping Center and they are now open.

Aspen MedSpa has moved from their Lafayette Clocktower location behind Patxi’s Pizza to Alamo according to a sign in the window of their Lafayette location. Check out their website here for more information.

The sculpture garden behind the Lafayette Gallery is closing and will be turned into a parking lot to allow for more parking spots for the new restaurant The Cooperage opening this fall across the way. In June I noted that the Twigs Floral building was getting demolished as well. The good news is that the parking lot in front of the Lafayette Gallery is apparently going to turn into a sitting area, and sculptures may possibly be displayed there if they can be bolted down.

This is the final kitchen to be featured from the Lafayette Juniors Kitchen Tour that took place last month in Lafayette. One cool feature I noticed was a shallow space in the kitchen island being used for grilling tools as you can see in the photo below. Great use of space!
This house, in particular the backyard, is an entertainer’s dream and in fact this is where the luncheon took place. There are so many great, shady spots in the back to hang out and enjoy the scenery.

Check out photos of the backyard after the jump…

Parked outside of See’s Candies in Lafayette last Friday during their grand opening was a 1930 Ford Model A and a 1930 Harley Davidson motorcycle. Instead of a trunk in the back check out the additional row of seats! They had a great spin-the-wheel game with lots of chocolate being handed out. For those living in Lamorinda no need to head out to Walnut Creek for your See’s fix.
