GEN Korean BBQ House Signage Up in Concord

1353 Willow Pass Rd, Concord

In October we learned that GEN Korean BBQ House would be coming to Concord where the old Sizzler used to be on Willow Pass Rd. and the signage is now up as they get ready to open, hopefully soon. Check out their menu here and Concord Facebook page here.

From their website:

The character for GEN simply means, “The beginning”, and we welcome you to join us in the art of Korean barbeque. We are looking to transcend the norm of Korean BBQ by fusing different flavors that we have found using ingredients from different parts of the world.

Drove by this place over the weekend and was going to write in. Lots of folks were working on it and it looks like they’re making good progress. If priced right, all you can eat seems like a good model for Korean BBQ.

There are several other locations down in the San Jose/Milpitas area– Food was very good (gotta BBQ it yourself on the table grill) but he wait was painful– nearly an hour! Hopefully this location won’t be as bad on that front. Reviews and menus of the other locations can be found on Yelp.

Thanks, yeah, after I posted this I spoke to a Korean American coworker who had been to the San Jose locations. He said food was good if not a bit “Americanized” (i.e. servers don’t speak Korean, etc.), but that overall it’s definitely worth a try. The Korean BBQ at the Park & Shop is pretty good, but I’m glad to have more options.
