Last fall we saw the Play Me piano that couldn’t be played in Danville and now I see it’s got a fresh coat of paint and can be played. Hurrah!

If you happen to find yourself parked at Broadway Plaza in downtown Walnut Creek getting ready to go shopping, walk down through side entrance near Macy’s to learn more about the role of trees and relax on the bench before heading out to shop. Or stop by on the way back before heading home.
A couple of months I posted this funny sign in Lafayette with a 0% OFF sign and it’s now been fixed with a typical 30% OFF SALE sign.
Spotted at the very same sign from three years ago in Orinda on Moraga Way.
I noticed this sign near the Walnut Creek library which touts Walnut Creek’s first cycle-track that is “physically separated from traffic and distinct from sidewalks and pedestrian zones.” Has anyone ridden this? What do you think?
Anyone know?
From a reader:
We live in the Lyric building facing east towards Mt. Diablo. Right next to Mr. Luckys is a little strip mall about to be demolished and there will be a new building going up and I’m curious what it will be and how tall it will be. Is there a website or someone I can ask about this? We pay a lot of money in rent for the views and we’re about to resign and I just want to know what we’re in for in regards to noise, potential loss of views etc. I also want to know if there is a risk of asbestos in the existing building.
Thanks to a reader for sending word that the first “Take a Book, Leave a Book” lending library has made it to the urban downtown Walnut Creek area next to Vineyard Vines on N. Main St. under the Bicycle Watchers bike rack created by local artist Joe Bologna. The developer is partnering with the Walnut Creek Library Foundation who will assist with keeping books stocked if necessary.
What a great idea, I don’t think I’ve ever seen one of these lending libraries in an urban area before!
Thanks to a reader for sending [downtown Walnut Creek]:
“Please enjoy this random act of kindness” with 3 quarters taped to a parking meter on Main St near Cypress.
The iconic clock in front of the former Rinehart jewelry store on N. Main St. in downtown Walnut Creek has been updated yet again. The clock originally was labeled JEWELRY as seen in this photo. In 2015 it was changed to the GELATO clock to advertise a gelato store and for a short time in 2017 it was updated yet again to become the IKOI SUSHI clock before changing back to the GELATO clock in white making it much less visible. Recently I noticed it has been changed to the Rinehart’s clock, presumably in memory of the original Rinehart store. Although a noble idea I think changing it back to the original JEWELRY text and font would be more appropriate.
I’ve written about these Save Up To X% sales before which sometimes comes across as misleading to say the least. Which is why it’s refreshing to see a SALE sign for 0% OFF at the “fine bedding & gifts” shop Sugi in Lafayette. Everybody loves a sale, right?
