The Walnut Creek Police reported on an arrest for a car theft in Antioch and possession of stolen property as well as narcotics and a firearm. To top it off they were violating their probation. It all took place behind Prima Ristorante in downtown Walnut Creek. From their press release:

On 1/21/12 at approximately 3:45 p.m., an off-duty police officer noticed a suspicious vehicle parked behind a restaurant at 1522 North Main Street. The vehicle was occupied by two males. The officer called Walnut Creek Police Dispatch and it was determined the vehicle was reported stolen from Antioch. Officers arrived within minutes and confronted the two subjects who were still inside the car. Both subjects were taken into custody at gunpoint without incident.

A search of the vehicle yielded a firearm and a large amount of other property. Officers were able to determine the property was stolen during a recent residential burglary. Officers also located narcotics on one of the suspects. Detectives will be following up on this case to determine if some of the property belongs to other victims.

Danska and Mair were charged with being felons in possession of a firearm, violating their probation, possession of stolen property, possession of narcotics and vehicle theft. They were booked into Martinez County Jail.

Early this morning the Walnut Creek Police arrested several people attempting to break up a fight in front of Shiro Restaurant & Lounge located at 1523 Giammona Drive in downtown Walnut Creek. In the process suspect Davon Kelly punched a Walnut Creek police officer on the face. In response a Taser was used to subdue him. The official advisory follows below:

On 1/8/12 at approximately 1:10 a.m., officers patrolling the downtown area came upon a large fight in front of Shiro Lounge at 1523 Giammona Drive. As they arrived, officers saw approximately fifteen people fighting in the street with a large crowd watching. Officers observed one subject assaulting another person who was on the ground. When they attempted to break up the fight the suspect, later identified as Davon Kelly, punched an officer in the face. Officers attempted to take Kelly into custody and had to use a Taser to subdue him. Several other bystanders pushed officers away from Kelly in an attempt to prevent him from being arrested. Two of those subjects, Donte Lewis and Davonte Lewis, were arrested for obstructing an officer. Other small fights started breaking out and many in the crowd refused repeated orders from officers to disperse and leave the area. Another subject, Desirae Chapple, was arrested for resisting/obstructing officers and assault on a police officer after she refused repeated commands to leave the area and attempted to punch an officer.

The remaining suspects were arrested for fighting in public or resisting/obstructing officers.

The original fight was reported to have started after a man was robbed of a gold chain inside of Shiro Lounge. The victim of the strongarm robbery was uncooperative with police and refused to provide information about the suspects.

Kelly was transported to county hospital for a medical evaluation which is standard procedure when a Taser is used. Chapple was also taken to the hospital for pepper spray exposure. After both subjects were medically cleared they were booked into Martinez County Jail. Thompson, Lewis, Lewis and Edwards were taken directly to Martinez County Jail.

Shiro Lounge was reportedly hosting a private party prior to the fight. All available Walnut Creek Police units responded to restore order during this incident. Several Highway Patrol units and Contra Costa County Sheriff Deputies also arrived to assist Walnut Creek units.

Looks like in addition to Redux, LIFT and VICE, Shiro can be added to the list of Walnut Creek fighting venues at night.

The Walnut Creek police reported on a Walnut Creek resident who was arrested last night for a commercial burglary in Lafayette recently:

Arrested: Stephen Walker. White male, 44 years old, brown hair, brown eyes, 5-10, 185. Resident of Walnut Creek.

On the above date and time, the Walnut Creek Police Department (WCPD) Investigations Bureau conducted a probation search on Stephen Walker at his residence on Geary Road. Walker is on felony probation for possession for sales of controlled substances. During the search, Detectives located stolen property that was traced back to a commercial burglary that recently occurred in Lafayette. Lafayette PD was notified and Walker was subsequently booked into the Martinez Detention Facility for felony no bail violation of his probation, Burglary and Possession of Stolen Property.

I’m sitting at the Civic Park playground in Walnut Creek watching my kids play over the weekend when I noticed right behind me someone was being questioned by a few police officers  Apparently there was some kind of altercation between the man sitting and a guy on a nearby bench.

Vice Lounge, located at 1251 Arroyo Way in Walnut Creek was the site of another arrest last night. According to the Walnut Creek police:

On 12/31/11 at approximately 1:45 a.m., Firefighters from Station 1 came upon a beating victim near Arroyo Way and Civic Drive while on an unrelated call for service. The Firefighters began treating the victim and flagged down a passing patrol car. The victim advised he had been pistol whipped by a group of unknown subjects who ran off. Officers quickly set up a perimeter and located two suspects in a nearby stairwell. Security staff from VICE Lounge assisted officers in identifying the suspects.

During the course of the investigation probable cause was developed that linked the two suspects to the beating. The two were identified as Brian Palma and Johnny Lopez. Both Lopez and Palma were arrested for assault with a deadly weapon. Officers did not locate a firearm but did find a bloodied metal object that appears to have been used in the assault.

The victim was transported to a local hospital with serious but non-life threatening head injuries. Both suspects were taken to Martinez County Jail where they are being held on $50,000 bail.
