Despite the “We’re Moving” sign in the window, Wags & Whiskers Pet Boutique will be closing by end of January. Located on Locust St. in downtown Walnut Creek this is disappointing news for cat and dog fans.

Take a good look at the above photo taken at the Walnut Creek Target. Look carefully and you won’t see pink Orbit bubblegum (not counting that “white” version). One of my weaknesses just happens to be Orbit bubblegum and I have always bought a pack or two at the Walnut Creek Target regularly. But over the past several months, the Walnut Creek Target has been completely sold out of Orbit bubblegum. Now I realize that stores can’t always be stocked with every single product, but this has been going on for MONTHS. A while back I thought that maybe the bubblegum flavor was being permanently dropped, but then I went to the Dublin Target and they had plenty of bubblegum Orbit. I couldn’t believe it!
Is this some kind of odd mix-up or is there something more to this that I’m not understanding?
Thanks for checking out this blog in 2012, it’s been fun. May everyone have a great 2013!
Back in November I noted that Footcandy would be closing in downtown Walnut Creek by the end of the year and sure enough, yesterday was their last day in business. Did anyone get a great deal over the weekend or was everything gone?
Back in September I noted the opening of the pop-up “design house” store Toss Designs in Broadway Plaza next to Nordstrom that was to remain open through January but apparently business has been doing well so they will remain in the same location for at least one more year. As you can see they now have signage up as well.

The popular Italian restaurant Tomatina is sporting failry new signage below the tomato sign:
Pasta • Piadine • Pizza
When I saw it I had no idea what piadine was, but now I know it’s Italian flatbread:
Piadina or Piada is a thin Italian flatbread, typically prepared in the Romagna region (Forlì–Cesena,Ravenna and Rimini). It is usually made with white flour, lard or olive oil, salt and water. The dough was traditionally cooked on a terracotta dish (called teggia in the Romagnolo dialect), although nowadays flat pans or electric griddles are commonly used.
