Thanks to a reader for noting there is some activity going on at the old Sakana Sushi restaurant which closed in December in Walnut Creek at Newell Square. Anyone know what’s going in here? Maybe a sushi place called Kana Sushi? 🙂

Back in January I noted that Arden B. was closing in Broadway Plaza in downtown Walnut Creek and now J.Jill will be moving from around the corner next to Crate & Barrel to this new location. The planned open date is July 18th. The new location is right on the main drag across from Banana Republic and next to J. Crew so this is a better location but what happens when Broadway Plaza closes to remodel?

Parked outside of See’s Candies in Lafayette last Friday during their grand opening was a 1930 Ford Model A and a 1930 Harley Davidson motorcycle. Instead of a trunk in the back check out the additional row of seats! They had a great spin-the-wheel game with lots of chocolate being handed out. For those living in Lamorinda no need to head out to Walnut Creek for your See’s fix.

Sunday, June 23rd, 2013
1:00pm – 2:30pm | FreeGet ready for this year’s summer outings with a slide presentation and a talk  highlighting some little known, and sometimes bizarre tidbits about the native plants and animals we can encounter on our warm weather hikes. From “wait a while” ceanothus to “sexy” coyote bush, “stinky” beetles to love struck “blue bellies”, you may never look at our common trailside companions in quite the same way again!
This program is co-listed with The Lafayette Library and Learning Center and Sustainable Lafayette.

Check out the kitchen utensils above the Back to the Table Cooking School sign (Lafayette), very creative!

New location at 1005 Oak Hill Rd.
Last week I noted that Rossi’s Tennis & Running shop moved to Mt. Diablo Blvd. and now P & L Framing has opened in this location at 1005 Oak Hill Rd. next to where Blockbuster used to be. Their old location on Fiesta Lane is being completely remodeled as the former stores vacate to make room for high-end stores due to Cooperage American Grille opening next door.

Back in April I noted that the Berkeley-based ice cream shop CREAM would be opening this summer in Walnut Creek and this weekend I dropped by to check out the inside as work progresses. From what I hear it will be opening late July, early August.
