This Veteran’s Day race was created to raise awareness and show support for our many local veterans and raise money to provide support for active duty service personnel, promote patriotism, assist Veterans organizations and assist in homeland volunteer efforts to help our country remain strong.
This 6.2 mile (10K) and 3.1 mile (5K) Run/Walk is an out and back course route that starts in Hillcrest Park, heads out onto the Iron Horse Trail and then loops back into Hillcrest Park by the Korean War Memorial, ending in the park. There will be 2 aid stations on the 10K course (1 on the 5K course) with water and electrolyte drinks.

Last week we learned that Berkeley-based olive oil and balsamic vinegar company Amphora would be soft-opening over the weekend in downtown Lafayette and I had a chance to drop by and try out their extra virgin olive oils (infused and non-infused) and balsamic vinegar. As you can see in the photos below it feels spacious inside and there is a huge selection of oils.
Everything I tasted was incredible! My favorite non-infused extra virgin olive oil was the Australian Hojiblanca and among the infused oils I enjoyed Persian lime olive oil and the savory wild mushroom and sage olive oil. At a reasonable $7/$12/$18 for small/medium/large bottles I’ll definitely be back for more.

Dear BtCreek-
I was surprised to see the Lawrence Way recycling center had closed September 28th. A huge disappointment to those of use who want to recycle in a timely and efficient manner. Do your readers have any recommendations?
The bottom of this Contra Costa article has available recycling options. Anyone know of any other recycling centers in or near Walnut Creek?
