Due to the impending redevelopment of Broadway Plaza in downtown Walnut Creek resulting in the closure of many stores there for the next couple of years, Broadway Plaza has decided to offer FREE complimentary valet parking to Broadway Plaza shoppers. There will also be additional complementary valet parking on S. Main St. for Neiman Marcus customers. In case you were wondering, cars will be parked at the parking garage next to Crate and Barrel. Although the valet is complimentary, tips are appreciated.
I was wandering around the backside of Broadway Plaza the other day as it wasn’t closed off since Edwards Luggage was the lone remaining store open and was wondering how it will look when it’s all over. In the meantime where will people go? The other side of Broadway Plaza? Downtown Walnut Creek? Lafayette? Elsewhere?
There are more and more signs posted like the one below informing people of the redevelopment soon to take place:
3569-C Mt. Diablo Blvd, Lafayette
The women’s fashion boutique Lanvie will soon be relocating from Broadway Plaza to the Clock Tower in downtown Lafayette on Mt. Diablo Blvd. next to Francesca’s Collections. They also have a Pleasanton location. Check out their website here and thanks to a reader for letting us know about the move!
I wonder what other stores will relocate from Broadway Plaza to Lafayette? Three more retail spaces are available right next to the new restaurant Cooperage American Grille.

From the Walnut Creek PD:
On the above date and time a Sliver Chevy Pick-up Truck was traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes of Ygnacio Valley Road between Civic Drive and Walnut Blvd. The pick-up truck eventually struck a tree in the center median located within the 800 block of Ygnacio Valley Road. The driver of the Chevy truck was transported to John Muir Hospital where she eventually died as a result of her injuries. Drugs and/or alcohol may have been a factor in this collision as the investigation is on-going.
If you have any information concerning the collision please contact Sgt. Joe Donleavy or Officer Sean Dexter at the Walnut Creek Police Department at (925) 943-5844.
Howard’s Shoes for Children has closed in Broadway Plaza although according to a note in the window (see below), they are “currently looking for another location in downtown Walnut Creek”. Their Palo Alto and Cupertino locations are still open.
Tony La Russa’s Animal Rescue Foundation ARF has opened a temporary popup location where Häagen-Daz used to be next to Macy’s in Broadway Plaza. I’m glad they were able to make use of this space at least for the time being.
Hope everyone has a very merry Christmas!
