A couple of days ago I noted that a new Peruvian restaurant called Mochica will be opening as well as the indoor dog space Zoom Room opening this Saturday at the Avalon Apartment Complex in Walnut Creek. I thought I would point out the other shops in this area. Allstate, a workplace by the hour store called Third Workplace, and a Starbucks round out the remaining shops.
Back in April I posted a question as to whether the beloved Dome movie theater in Pleasant Hill should be demolished and it turns out that it was demolished a couple of weeks later, to be replaced by a 2 story Dick’s Sporting Goods store. I dropped by recently and this is what it looks like now. Of all the stores that could have replaced the dome isn’t it appropriate it will be replaced by a store named Dick’s?

The indoor dog space Zoom Room is opening a new location in Walnut Creek on August 3rd, where the Avalon apartment complex is located, right across from the Pleasant Hill BART station. From their website:
The day’s events will include $5 Intro to Agility classes throughout the day followed by a fabulous free party starting at 4pm. Come and enjoy our complimentary ice cream sundae bar, refreshments, homemade doggy donuts, a photo booth big enough for 10 people (or dogs!), a dog tricks contest and a raffle with wonderful prizes. We’ll even fire up our Doggy Disco® light show! This is truly one of those cases where “the more, the merrier” applies, because for everyone who registers and attends our event, we’ll make a $10 donation to Rocket Dog Rescue: saving dogs from death at over-crowded shelters and finding them loving, happy homes!
Check out the stuff happening on the grand opening:
Last month I noted that J.Jill was moving from one Broadway Plaza location to another on the main strip and they have now opened. Since this part of Broadway Plaza is slated to be demolished within the next few years I’m not sure why they did this.
Venture Men’s Goods
Spotted at Venture Men’s Goods in downtown Lafayette. From the movie Fast Times at Ridgemont High:

Back in March I noted that the kitchen and bath studio At Home with Baystone would be opening in downtown Walnut Creek and they have now opened. In addition to selling cabinetry, countertops and tiles they also have several in-house designers to work with and plan people’s remodels. The official opening won’t be until September but there is an ongoing ‘soft’ open now.

Last month I noted that the vitamin store GNC was opening in the Lafayette Shopping Center and they are now open.

The Golf Mart will be moving from their Concord location to their new location at 2099 Mt. Diablo Blvd right off highway 24 in Walnut Creek. Golfsmith used to be a short walk away but they moved to Pleasant Hill last year. Connecting everything together is Pier 1 Imports which moved from the future Golf Mart location to the old Golfsmith location.
From Golf Mart’s website:
Serving Northern California as well as the San Diego area, the Golf Mart is a California institution and one of the best-reviewed golf chains in the country.
Stop by any of our 10 locations and see first-hand what some customers have called the, “Costco of Golf!”

Aspen MedSpa has moved from their Lafayette Clocktower location behind Patxi’s Pizza to Alamo according to a sign in the window of their Lafayette location. Check out their website here for more information.
