A new gift shop called ECHO grove featuring hand crafted items from around the United States is coming to Orinda Theatre Square this spring. Items will include handpicked jewelry, iPhone/iPad cases and more for both women and men.
From their website:
A few months ago, my wife and I decided to open a gift shop devoted to 100% handcrafted items from across the USA. The ensuing months have been a blast, attending craft fairs, meeting really cool people that are doing really cool things with natural and reclaimed materials, just generally keeping alive the spirit of distinctiveness in a world of mass produced individuality. Every day made us believe more and more that people in general are hungry for a dose of the real in this increasingly virtual world.
So yesterday we signed a lease on #112 at Orinda Theater Square in beautiful downtown Orinda, CA (Now with an extra bore, no more disappearing lanes). Our little shop will be a haven where you can come in, browse at your leisure and learn more about the individual artisans that make the amazing and useful gifts for women, men, kids, pets and your home.
Be sure to keep an eye on this space, as well as following us on Facebook and Twitter, as we build our little shop and just maybe bring back an appreciation for the craftsmen, the artisans, the builders and the artists that are the true stars of our crazy venture.
1675 Olympic Blvd, Walnut Creek
The Sports Authority-owned S.A. Elite store located at the corner of Olympic Blvd. and N. California Blvd. in downtown Walnut Creek will be turning into a regular Sports Authority in March. Apparently the focus on running and yoga was too specific so the change to a regular Sports Authority will broaden the base. Their running shoe selection will be cut but there’s always Sports Basement on Ygnacio Valley Blvd.
1280 Willow Pass Rd, Concord
Back in October I noted that Hobby Lobby would be opening in Concord in March and although it’s empty inside the signage is now up so the opening should be coming soon…
1356 N. Main St, Walnut Creek
Lots of relocations from Broadway Plaza these days and now the women’s clothing store Bryn Walker has relocated to N. Main St. in downtown Walnut Creek where the men’s clothing boutique Atlas used to be.
Michael Friedes Design is opening in Orinda Theatre Square where the florist Anahid Designs used to be, right across from Barbacoa. Check out their completed projects here and find out about Michael Friedes here. I browsed their projects and think it looks amazing!
From their Facebook page:
Interiors designed by Michael Friedes are the result of rich layering, painstaking attention to detail and an environment that encourages the viewer to linger. Every project artfully meshes our client’s lifestyle with beautifully inspired details/elements, surprising features and refreshing functionality.
They are having a grand opening celebration tomorrow, February 7th from 5:30pm – 7:30pm at their new showroom in Orinda Theatre Square.
Back in November, 2011 Cornology opened in Broadway Plaza, Walnut Creek and due to the Plaza’s pending redevelopment they have now closed this location. You can still check them out at their Emeryville location in the Bay Street mall or online here. Check out their flavor list here. According to an update they are looking for a replacement store:
As part of a redesign of Broadway Plaza, Cornology Walnut Creek will be relocating as of January 31. We’re doing our best to find the perfect new location, so enter your email to be one of the first to find out.
294 Railroad Ave, Danville
The Danville-based gift shop Last Detail is closing sometime in March and is currently offering 40% off everything in the store with 70% off seasonal goods. They are located at the corner of Railroad Ave. and Church St. in downtown Danville.
The backside of Broadway Plaza is looking more and more like a ghost town as the time until the redevelopment begins and now the shoe store Clarks has closed. According to a sign in the window they will reopen in Broadway Plaza in 2016. You can still visit their other stores in the Stoneridge Mall in Pleasanton and the Westfield in San Francisco.
1403 N. Main St, Walnut Creek
More signage has gone up at Jos. A. Bank in downtown Walnut Creek at the corner of N. Main St. and Cypress St. as it opens today.
