From the Walnut Creek PD:
On 8/27/16 at 0128 hours, Walnut Creek Police officers responded to a report of shots fired in the area of Locust Street and Cypress Street. Officers located one male victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to John Muir Medical Center where he later died from his injuries. No other persons were injured during this incident.
Witnesses reported a black male suspect was last seen running from the scene of the shooting. At this point this appears to be an isolated incident. Walnut Creek Police Detectives are actively investigating this case.
We are not releasing the name of the victim at this time pending notification of their family. We will be releasing more information as it becomes available.
