Back in October of last year we learned that a new movie-themed wine bar called Cinee Cuvée would be coming to Orinda Theatre Square and they are now having a soft opening according to their Facebook page:
Our soft opening has been going on. Stop by for a glass of wine or two!
Anyone have a chance to check this place out? They have a cool video on their Facebook page of a waterfall effect overlaying the famous movie shower scene from Psycho.

Earlier this month we learned that the Mexican restaurant Barbacoa closed in Orinda Theatre Square, to be replaced with a new restaurant called The Fourth Bore Tap Room and Grill and they are opening this Tuesday, November 24th. Check out the food and cocktail menu here and wine/beer menu here. The menu notes, “We proudly server Richard’s grass fed beef from Moraga, CA”. It doesn’t get more local than that! I’m looking forward to trying the Smokehouse BBQ burger (cheddar cheese, bacon, onion strings, lettuce, tomato, bbq sauce, served with Fourth Bore potato chips). The Fourth Bore will feature 30 beers on tap with a pub style menu.

The sign in the window indicates that Barbacoa, the Mexican restaurant in Orinda Theatre Square is, “indefinately closed for remodeling”, and Diablo Dish reports that it will be replaced with a new restaurant called The Fourth Bore Tap Room & Grill, expected to open before Thanksgiving. They also note that Concord-based E.J. Phair Brewing Company will be crafting beer for the new restaurant. Check for updates at The Fourth Bore Facebook page here.
Over the weekend I decided to drop by for a drink at Peet’s Coffee & Tea in Orinda on Moraga Way and as I started waiting in line I noticed this sign. A few people were waiting on the right beans side. Nobody was waiting on the left drinks side. I read it very carefully, at least three times! Then I went up the counter via the left line and asked for a drink from a woman behind the counter. She mentioned the line at right. I replied that I wanted to order a drink, not order beans. She countered that she was busy and that maybe the other customers were also ordering drinks. So I went back in the right line and asked each customer whether they were ordering beans. They all replied that they were indeed ordering beans. So back I went to the left line and told the woman behind the counter that everyone was ordering beans. Ultimately I received my drink but it was certainly awkward. Make sense?
Enjoy this Seinfeld car reservation scene:
Spotted on Moraga Way in Orinda. There are quite a few of these scarecrows displayed around Orinda. Fun autumn decorations.
