I remember waiting in line for hours to see Return of the Jedi as a kid and now the biggest movie to hit the screens in years, Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens is debuting today at thousands of theaters around the world. Do you plan on seeing it this weekend? How long did/will you wait in line? Is it even possible to get tickets anywhere?

The opening day of the new STAR WARS movie is on Thursday (12/17/15) and will be shown at the Century Theater in downtown Walnut Creek. In anticipation to a sold out attendance for every showing, the Walnut Creek Police Department is taking a proactive approach to make sure those attending have a safe and enjoyable experience. The Walnut Creek Police Department will have officers specifically assigned to monitor the activities associated with the opening of STAR WARS to deter crime and ensure pedestrian/traffic safety.
