I’ve been parking in the free Walnut Creek private parking garages for many years now, and I always note the signs stating that parking is only for 3 or 4 hours otherwise there is a $25 fine. I have witnessed chalk marking on the tires several times, but until yesterday I had never witnessed parking fee notices being issued. The photo above shows a parking garage employee issuing a parking fee notice that was left on the windshield shortly after.

The Walnut Creek police reported on a Walnut Creek resident who was arrested last night for a commercial burglary in Lafayette recently:
Arrested: Stephen Walker. White male, 44 years old, brown hair, brown eyes, 5-10, 185. Resident of Walnut Creek.
On the above date and time, the Walnut Creek Police Department (WCPD) Investigations Bureau conducted a probation search on Stephen Walker at his residence on Geary Road. Walker is on felony probation for possession for sales of controlled substances. During the search, Detectives located stolen property that was traced back to a commercial burglary that recently occurred in Lafayette. Lafayette PD was notified and Walker was subsequently booked into the Martinez Detention Facility for felony no bail violation of his probation, Burglary and Possession of Stolen Property.

Located at 1411 Locust St. in downtown Walnut Creek, Redux Lounge is a dance club that has a funky exterior. Never been inside. It seems like it changes names every few years but always stays a club for some reason. Anyone ever been here? Do you like it?
Spotted at the Atlas store on N. Main St. in Walnut Creek in December, the sign says, “WELCOME Come in, it’s cool inside!”

Lindsay Wildlife Museum, located at 1931 First Ave near downtown Walnut Creek is a small museum that houses live wild animals and also offers various educational exhibits. From their website:
Lindsay Wildlife Museum is a unique natural history and environmental education center where live, wild animals are just inches away. Visitors can listen to the cry of a red tailed hawk, go eye-to-eye with a gray fox and watch a bald eagle eat lunch. More than 50 species of live, non-releasable, native California animals are on exhibit.
Tens of thousands of children learn about the environment in their classrooms through our traveling education programs and on-site tours of the museum. Nature and science-oriented classes and trips are offered for adults and children. More than 600 volunteers help feed and care for wild animals, teach children and adults about nature, and support the museums mission in many other ways.
They are open year-round, and tickets are a reasonable $7 for adults and $5 for children, free for children under 2. I’ve visited more times than I can count and my children always have a fun time there. Anyone ever volunteer there? What’s it like behind the scenes?
