The Merola Opera Program presents Opera & Ornaments: A Merola Opera Program Holiday Concert, on Sunday, December 7^th, at 2 pm in the Community Hall of the Lafayette Library (3491 Mt Diablo Blvd). This special holiday concert features renowned opera performers Kristin Clayton, soprano, and Bojan Knezevic, bass-baritone.

Audiences will enjoy an afternoon of popular opera arias, as well as a mix of Broadway and seasonal favorites, including works by Rossini, Brahms, Rodgers and Hammerstein, and many more, accompanied by Bryndon Hassman on piano.

Tickets are $10 and all proceeds go to support the Lafayette Library & Learning Foundation. Starbucks may be Coming to Mercer Apartment Complex

It looks like the Mercer apartment complex, located diagonally across from the Lesher Center in downtown Walnut Creek will finally be getting a coffee shop as Starbucks is planning on opening there pending city approval. Finally, a coffee shop!

Santa House gets a Real Storefront in Broadway Plaza

This year the Broadway Plaza Santa House is located in a real storefront which is a step up from the converted space in the parking garage of past years. This is one benefit of stores closing down for the impending Broadway Plaza demolition.

Va de Vi Sporting a New Koi Pond in Walnut Creek

Last year I wrote about possibly the most amazing part of downtown Walnut Creek, the secret koi garden behind Va de Vi on Mt. Diablo Blvd, and now the restaurant has a new, smaller koi pond similar to the koi pond next to Sasa on N. Main St. Also note the wine barrel menu display, looks great.

If you haven’t been to the koi pond in back you need to go, it’s incredible! The koi are HUGE and it’s very serene back there. While we were watching the koi swim around, numerous people wandered by and were amazed by what they saw.
