After 15 years in business Bo’s Barbecue is closing in Lafayette on Mt. Diablo Blvd. The lease is up end of July and it’s not being renewed according to this article in the Contra Costa Times. In the article the owner Bo McSwine says he may open a new barbecue restaurant in the China Basin neighborhood of San Francisco where AT&T Park is located.
35 Crescent Dr, Pleasant Hill
Great news for downtown Pleasant Hill as Danville-based Gotta Eatta Pita is opening their second location in the Pleasant Hill shopping center on Crescent Drive where Mazza Grill used to be. Check out their Pleasant HIll menu here. Their third location will be in Pleasanton so they’re growing fast.

Orinda Theatre Square
Over the weekend the gift shop ECHO Grove, featuring a “curated collection of handmade goods” from the bay area and elsewhere in the United States opened in Orinda Theatre Square. There are various sections such as housewares, women’s goods, jewelry, kids, electronic accessories (such as iPad stands) and men’s goods; each item displays a small card with the artist’s name, location and description explaining the item further in-depth which I appreciated. From the Walnut Creek Police:
On the above date and time, WCPD received a call that an armed robbery had just occurred in front of the Corner’s Tavern. Responding officers arrived within a minute and found the suspect used a handgun to rob the female victim of her IPhone and purse as she was in front of the business. The suspect fled in a red colored Honda hatchback, possibly a Honda Civic, being driven by an unknown suspect. Officers searched for the suspects and the vehicle but were unable to locate them.
No one was injured during the robbery and the investigation continues. Anyone with information is encouraged to call the Walnut Creek Police Department at (925) 943-5844.
Suspect(s): Suspect #1: A male described as having a dark complexion (Hispanic or Black) with a dark scarf covering his face, wearing a dark color hooded sweatshirt/jacket, Early 20’s, 6’1” tall, with a medium build and armed with a black handgun.
Suspect #2 (Driver): No description
Suspect Vehicle: Red Honda hatchback with a spoiler on the trunk. No license plate information provided. Possibly a Honda Civic.

In the 28 years since its foundation, it has secured a place for itself among the top chamber music ensembles, thanks to its great individual and joint musicianship, and has been a guest on nearly all the world‘s major concert platforms. It was the quartet‘s sensational success at the 1986 string quartet competition in Evian, France, where they won several prizes, that set the four musicians on the path to a great international career.

Located across the street from Target in downtown Walnut Creek is a new apartment complex being built by MIll Creek called the North Main Apartments which will contain 126 1 and 2 bedroom apartments. Check out the features and amenities here. Interestingly there will be “electric car charging stations”. I like that washer and dryers are included as well.

The new BART train cars are going on tour this month and will be available to view in Concord on May 9th and several other cities as well. Check out the complete city tour list here.

What they fail to mention on that page is that the number of seats will decrease by about 5 seats per car. Take a look at the rendering of the inside here. What happened to all the seats?

As ridership grows, finding a seat on peak period trains is becoming harder. The new cars have as many seats as can fit within the available space. Having thinner seat backs will help maximize seat count, but new buffer zones for crash safety at the ends of the car, and an extra door in the middle, are limiting factors.
As a result, seat count will drop by 4.6 seats per car on average. To increase the number of seats in the fleet, BART has set a goal to obtain funding to increase the fleet to 1,000 train cars. This would increase the number of seats in the fleet by about 37.6%.
