La Chataigne Bakery Opens in La Fiesta Square in Lafayette

La Fiesta Square, Lafayette

A new bakery called La Chataigne has opened in La Fiesta Square in Lafayette where Cake used to be. According to Diablo Dish they plan on expanding “the menu to include both modern and traditional pastries.” The French style pastries will continue to be sold at the Martinez farmers market. I tried the morning bun you see below and the orange zest made this a real stand-out. One of the best morning buns I have ever eaten! I look forward to trying other pastries at this bakery. Yum!

This baker is beyond passionate and his beautiful pasties show it! I’m lucky enough to get his treats at the Martinez markets on Sundays 🙂 I lived in France, and these are the closest I’ve had to the ones there. I sure hope word of mouth gets out and he is a success in this spot, where others have failed. My favorites from him are: The plain croissant, Canales, and the chocolate almond croissants. He also makes really fantastic bread!! he even is serving my favorite French tea!
