Spotted outside California Peddler in downtown Danville, look at the tires on this bike! This is the second place I’ve seen this so I guess this is becoming popular?

Thanks to a reader for sending word that McDonald’s has closed in downtown Walnut Creek. This is not surprising as an apartment complex has been planned for this spot. All signage has been stripped clean which makes for a cool looking sign below. A sign in the door notes that Lafayette, Pleasant Hill and Concord locations are still open.

Back in August I noted that the luxury car dealership Prestige Autohaus had closed on N. Main St. in Walnut Creek and a reader commented that they have reopened at the corner of Central Rd. and Crokaerts St. next to the Dirito Brothers Volkswagen dealership.

The signage for Amphora Lafayette Olive Oil Works, located next to The Cooperage is great. I’ve been using their extra virgin olive oil and balsamic vinegar for salad dressing and everyone in my family agrees it is SO delicious.

This Saturday Pyramid Alehouse is hosting a comedy night in downtown Walnut Creek and that got me wondering what kind of comedy clubs are in Contra Costa. I’ve been to Cobb’s in San Francisco which I enjoyed a lot. Are there any local comedy clubs that you recommend? Who’s your favorite comedian? Recently I’ve been enjoying Louis C.K. and Amy Schumer.

Friday, January 30th, 2015 – Saturday, February 28th, 2015, 2015What if your book club was being filmed for a documentary by a famous Danish filmmaker? How would you behave? That’s the scintillating set up of The Book Club Play, in which secrets are not only revealed, they’re caught on tape in this hilarious new comedy about books, the people who love them, and what can happen when friends start reading between the lines. Sprinkled with wit, joy and novels galore – from Jane Eyre and Moby Dick to Twilight and The DaVinci Code – this is a buoyant satire of a contemporary culture that loves a good book as much as a juicy show-all vid, and a testament to the joy of reading. Lights! Camera! Book Club!!
When I picked up this cup from a restaurant in Pleasant Hill recently I was a bit confused. I had a straw as well, but was I supposed to poke a hole in the side? Thankfully the Sip Hole with arrow pointed me to the correct location. 🙂
