Broadway Plaza, Walnut Creek
It’s been over two years since the stationery store Papyrus closed in downtown Walnut Creek and as you can see in the above photo they are much closer to reopening, this time in Broadway Plaza a few blocks away from their old spot.

Broadway Plaza in downtown Walnut Creek now boasts three sunglass stores. Apex and Sunglass Hut, both owned by Luxottica, and now Solstice Sunglasses, owned by Safilo. In addition to brands that I’ve seen everywhere, like Ray-Ban, I noticed brands that I haven’t seen before such as Carrera and Polaroid. Who knew Polaroid has a sunglass brand?!

It’s been a long time coming and finally the health-focused restaurant co-founded by Dr. Andrew Weil, True Food Kitchen, will be opening tomorrow, October 18th in Broadway Plaza, Walnut Creek. Over the weekend I stopped by for a preview and the decor, service and cuisine were solid throughout. I even saw Dr. Weil himself, bushy white beard and all, eating there. The salmon, roasted beet and farro dish tasted incredible, as did the edamame dumplings. I took a ton of photos so be sure to check them out after the jump. Check out the True Food Kitchen Walnut Creek website here.

Earlier this year we learned that a new Asian boba tea shop called Chalogy as well as the return of Cornology would be coming to downtown Walnut Creek and the signage is now up and they are expected to open next month in November. According to their website they’ll also be offering cocktails such as mango soju, chocolate soju martini, and snow ice à la Ice Monster. What a great combination, I remember Cornology when they were in Broadway Plaza over two years ago.

Lemonade, the fast casual restaurant from Southern California opens today in downtown Walnut Creek next to Macy’s. The 1,700 square foot dining area offers plenty of light and looks great with a clean decor. Outside are two dining patio sections on each side with heated lamps. (Check out all the photos after the jump). Known for their vegetable-based dishes, I was happy to see plenty of protein being offered, such as Ahi tuna & avocado poke and several braised dishes as well which tasted amazing! Each dish is sold a la carte and it’s ok to request a sample for most offerings which is helpful considering how many choices there are. Appropriately, they offer various lemonade flavors. I tried the blood orange lemonade which was refreshing. Check out their summer menu here with the fall menu coming up in the next couple of weeks.
