Moraga Way, Orinda
In May of last year I noted that “The Old Yellow House” was getting remodeled and it’s progressing nicely as you can see in the photo above. It’s located on Moraga Way so plenty of people see this house every day driving through Orinda. According to the developer’s Facebook page they will be back to finish this house sometime this summer. I look forward to seeing this when it’s completed.
The Barbacoa outdoor lounge area at Orinda Theatre Square looks great. In addition to the fire pit there are tables shaded by huge umbrellas to the right.

Earlier this month I noted that the Italian restaurant Picolo Napoli would be opening in Orinda Theatre Square and this weekend I dropped in to try out their pizza, salads and gelato and it was really good. Check out their menu here. Diablo Dish also has more information here. In addition to their online menu they also offer appetizers such as a caprese mozzarella salad, house salad and housemade bread sticks with roasted garlic and Parmesan.
If you’ve been reading this blog for a while you may know that I’m a huge pizza fan so how does it stack up? To me this reminds me of a traditional New York pizza, albeit a bit thinner. Mostly local ingredients are used including San Marzano and grape tomatoes and a six-cheese mix.
As for the gelato, mmmm. Very creamy and rich. The salted caramel flavor is insanely good.
