The restaurant MexCal has closed in Danville on Hartz Ave. I’ll miss those chairs… Their Orinda location closed a couple of years ago.

10:30am – 12:30pm | (included w/ museum general admission)Jay Ward came to Pixar Animation Studios in December 1998 to work as an art department production assistant on the 2001 feature film, “Monsters, Inc.” He was soon promoted to coordinator, and in 2001 began early development work on the 2006 film, “Cars.” During the production of “Cars,” Ward’s knowledge of the automotive world led him to play different roles on the film, including the character team manager and automotive consultant to the film’s director and co-director, John Lasseter and Joe Ranft. He went on to manage the art department for “Ratatouille,” “Brave” and was the Associate Producer on the Pixar Short “Presto” in 2008.

The women’s fashion boutique Duchess, which relocated from Lafayette to Danville a few years ago has closed.

Since opening 10 years ago I got engaged, had two babies, moved the shop, parents moved to a different country have a niece and nephew, personally moved three times myself… needless to say at 25 when I thought I knew everything and had zero fears I jumped into opening my own business it has been an amazing experience and I have met so many amazing people.

Back in April we learned that Auburn Winery Tasting Room would be turning into Auburn Lounge Wine Bar and it’s getting a lot closer to opening. As you can see the signage is up and their Facebook page is being actively updated so check out their progress here. One reply there notes that they will still be offering live music, “Tapping into the 1930’s style music: Ella, Duke, Count”.

Not sure what’s going on with E. Prospect Ave. off Hartz Ave. in Danville but this year so far both Edge Boutique and Pelican Rock have closed and now NIQUEA.D is closing as well. Currently everything in store is 75% off.

Last week we learned that the clothing store J.McLaughlin opened in Lafayette and in late April they also opened in Danville on Hartz Ave next to the historic Danville Hotel where Basque Boulangerie Cafe is located. A few months ago we learned that the pond at Blackhawk Plaza in Danville was drained and the ducks did not look happy at all. Happily, when I stopped by recently the pond has been refilled and the ducks look like they’re having a blast. Yay! 🙂
