Friday Question of the Day – Will you Pay to Park at La Fiesta Square in Lafayette?

Back in September we learned that the parking lot at La Fiesta Square in downtown Lafayette would be getting parking meters and they are now online with a $1.50 per hour charge, max two hour stay. When I dropped by the other evening it was quite full so this looks like what was intended; free up spots so it’s not completely full while bringing in more revenue.

Unfortunately La Fiesta stores do not offer free parking validation which surprises me. Will you pay to park at La Fiesta Square? Will you look around for street parking further away? Are you more inclined to bike or to go elsewhere?

Breads of India Closes in Downtown Walnut Creek – will Reopen this Spring

Back in March we learned that Breads of India was for sale in downtown Walnut Creek and it is now closed but a sign in the window notes that it’s “under new management, will open Spring 2015“.

Brett Lunger studied political science at Princeton University before enlisting in the Marine Corps in 1967. He served as a lieutenant in a select US Marine regiment for more than a year in Vietnam, and on his return he taught at the Marine Officers Basic School in Quantico, Virginia.

Despite coming from a very privileged background, one of the heirs of the Du Pont family fortune, he ventured into the world of big-time motor racing with a limited budget and no family support.

He began racing in 1965 with a Corvette while at Princeton, later graduating to Can-Am. Returning to the track in 1971 after leaving the Marine Corps, he took part in the L&M Formula 5000 Series in US racing alongside David Hobbs, and later joining Dan Gurney’s AAR team.

Use Lane B? This may one of the most confusing parking signs I have ever seen. This parking lot is located next to the Lafayette library and if this were a parking sign it would be baffling but it’s actually a shopping sign for the little take-out espresso stand in the middle of the parking lot. Makes more sense now…

Lift Lounge & Grill Closes in Walnut Creek

According to Diablo Dish Lift Lounge & Grill closed over the weekend in downtown Walnut Creek. A new restaurant/coffee bar is planned for this space called CoffeeShop and will feature local Bay Area coffee roasters and offer breakfast, lunch and dinner. Stay tuned…
