Traction Cycling Closing in Lafayette

Last April I noted that Traction Bikes opened in downtown Lafayette on Mt. Diablo Blvd. but unfortunately they are closing. The owner mentioned that he’s looking for someone to take over the lease. That leaves Sharp Bicycle and Hank & Frank Bicycles as the remaining bike shops in Lafayette.

That’s a bummer! Although I haven’t shopped there I’m a big advocate of the local bike shops. All my bikes and all my parts come from local shops. Local shops encourage and build the cycling community with workshops and groups rides. Do you think it had to do with the limited parking at that location?

It probably had to do with the loyal local customers at Hank and Frank and Sharp. The town probably couldn’t support 3 bike shops. It’s too bad though.
