Back in April I noted that McDonald’s would be closing in downtown Walnut Creek this summer and although the timing was off it turns out that they are planning to eventually close to make room for 119 residential units along with 16,323 square feet of retail stores. According to the Walnut Creek city council agenda report, JDC Development and McDonald’s Corporation filed the use permit and design review applications so McDonald’s would still be involved with the development of the condos (or rental units). I wonder what restaurant might end up at this location? Hmm…
Currently the Walnut Creek Design Review commission is recommending denying this development, “with recommendations for acceptable changes to project density, parking, site planning, or other considerations.” Stay tuned…
