Sign of the Day (Danger Edition)

warning-chemicals-sign-mcdonalds

If you’ve parked in a parking garage you’ve probably noticed signs like this stating:

Chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer, or birth defects or other reproductive harm may be present in foods or beverages sold or served here.

Such chemicals are also present in this area and in consumer produce and other items sold, provided, and used here.

I’ve seen signs like this in apartment buildings and elsewhere, but when I dropped by the McDonalds that closed recently in downtown Walnut Creek and saw this sign right on the door I couldn’t believe it. “chemicals known to cause cancer … may be present in foods or beverages”? Do all fast food restaurants have this warning? I’ve been known to enjoy an In-N-Out Burger every now and then but never paid attention to this. Does anyone else feel uncomfortable seeing this before going into a restaurant? Or am I being too cautious?
