It’s a Wonderful Life in Lafayette Celebration:

Lafayette Plaza
Downtown Lafayette
Friday, December 5th, 2014
4:00pm – 7:00pm | Free

Arrive early and plan to stay! This fun and festive event includes visits with Santa, official holiday tree lighting ceremony, one-of-a-kind photo ops, live musical entertainment, crafts, holiday treats and a holiday sing-a-long.

Festivities begin at 4pm. Santa is scheduled to parade on Lafayette’s treasured Old Betsy fire engine, starting from the Lafayette Historical Society, traveling down Golden Gate Way and arriving at Lafayette Plaza Park at 4:30pm. A must-not-miss for the little ones!

Dana Green Team LogoThroughout the event, there will be activities for the kids, light refreshments and lots of photo opportunities, including posing with Santa and Old Betsy. Where else can someone take such a fun holiday photo? Plus, while they last, Santa will be giving out limited edition goodie bags provided by Whole Foods.

The official lighting of the Lafayette holiday tree is planned for 5:30 p.m. The tree, decorated with environmentally friendly LED lights, will be lit each evening throughout the season.

There will be live entertainment throughout the event, including local student musicians and singers (pre-school on up), performers from the Peter Pan Foundation, Town Hall Theatre performers and a fun holiday sing-a-long, too.

Branagh Development LogoIn addition, participants will have the opportunity to create an ornament from recycled wooden shapes decorated with all natural sustainable ingredients. Etsy designer Matte Stephens will be on-site providing guidance and assistance during this interactive family friendly complimentary activity for all ages.

Expect a fun – and endearing — surprise from local third graders, too! They are busy decorating “I Love Lafayette because…” cards that will be showcased on the Wall of Gratitude. Event participants will be able to decorate the same type of cards to add to the Wall.

Complimentary hot chocolate and treats will be provided. Food trucks will offer dinner items for purchase.
